Obituary of Marcella Walker

Marcella F. Walker went to be with Jesus and her husband Jim Sr. on August 2, 2006 in Waukegan, Illinois. She fought a gallant fight for seven months due to complications from a fall in December 2005. Marcella was born April 5, 1932 in Laurium, Michigan to Vincent and Alma Cena. Twelve years later she moved to the Zion-Beach Park area. She attended Immaculate Conception School in Waukegan and Zion-Benton Township High School. She later finished her education at Sacred Heart School in Laurium, Michigan. She also attended the College of Lake County. She worked at Abbott Labs for 35 years along with being a dedicated housewife and mother. In 1953 she was struck down with polio. She walked again due to a new surgical procedure-tendon transplant-performed by Dr. Sheeman of Highland Park. This procedure at the time was hailed in medical journals across the world. Marcella was also a member of St. Dismas Church of Waukegan, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Ernie Pyle Post of Indianapolis, Indiana, the Illinois Sheriffs Association and many charitable organizations. She was also fan of our #1 2005 White Sox, the Green Bay Packers, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. She is survived by her son James (Pamela) Walker Jr. of Waukegan; grandson James Rob (Stephanie) Walker of Lindenhurst; granddaughter Jennifer N. Walker of Waukegan; three great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Angela and Tyler Walker all of Lindenhurst; cousin Rosemary Mosca of Iron Mountain, Michigan; family from South Carolina and across the United States; her helper, Edgar; and a host of friends and all of her animal friends, big and small, in her neighborhood.
