On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Carmen Aida Echevarria Gonzalez, loving sister and aunt passed away at the age of 65. Carmen was born on September 9, 1955 in Palmarejo, Villalba, P.R to father, Eladio Echevarria and mother, Claudina Gonzalez. Carmen obtained her teaching degree from Universidad Mundial in Puerto Rico and was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years. She treasured each of her students and looked forward to meeting her new kids every year. She loved Chicago sports, especially her Chicago Cubs. She cheered them on every year and would watch every game. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She looked forward to decorating every room of her home with Santa and snowmen figurines. Most of all, Carmen loved spending time with her nieces and nephews talking about the latest sport stats. The most important thing to Carmen was relationships with her family and friends. She was known for her respect, compassionate spirit, sweet smile, and the joy and love she had for her puppy, Khalessi. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Eladio and Claudina, and her brother Milan Echevarria Gonzalez. She is survived by her siblings Evenicia Echevarria Gonzalez, Iris D. Echevarria Gonzalez, Heriberto Echevarria Gonzalez, Ovidio Echevarria Gonzalez, Manuel Echevarria Gonzalez, Guillermina Echevarria Gonzalez, Aida Luz Echevarria Gonzalez, Jesus Manuel Echevarria Rivera, Eladio Echevarria Rivera, Héctor Echevria Rivera, Carmen Maria Echevarria Rivera, Hector Sanchez Echevarria, along with several cousins, nephews, and nieces. A memorial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10am at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL. Additionally, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the limitation of how many people can gather, a streaming of the memorial will be available at 11am on the Congdon website. Flowers can be sent directly through the Congdon Funeral Home.
