Obituary of George Hyllberg

George "Bud Hyllberg, 85, of Zion, died on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at his home. George was born July 1, 1921 in Waterford, Wisconsin, and has lived in the Zion/Winthrop Harbor area since the age of 12. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School and he served in World War II as a radio operator aboard aircraft carriers in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for four years. He retired from Teamsters Local 301 and the former City Lumber Company of Kenosha, Wisconsin as a salesman. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vivian (nee Hoyt); two sons Bruce (Karen) Hyllberg of Gurnee, Illinois and Brian (Inez) Hyllberg of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother Rev. James Hyllberg of Racine, Wisconsin; and one sister Alice Hyllberg of Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Marie Hyllberg; four sisters Helen Welling, Leona Liddle, Elsie Hillestad and Marilyn Hyllberg; and two brothers Clarence and Charles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until time of services.
