Obituary of Judy C. Tate

Judy C. Tate, 75, lifetime resident of Winthrop Harbor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Judy was born October 20, 1945, in Waukegan IL, to Dowell and Gertrude Kelley. She received her GED from College of Lake County and went on to take classes toward a degree in Art. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor until she was unable to attend in person. Judy worked for Johnson Motors in both the assembly and janitorial departments until their closure; after, she worked for American Motors. She was an avid animal lover; she loved to draw and color, a hobby that she passed down to her children. Judy was a family oriented woman; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces. Judy is survived by her children, Elaine (the late Patrick) LaPoint, Stacey Tate, Cynthia (Shawn) Lambert, David Tate and Ashley (Dan) Jackson; grandchildren, Robby, Kari, Nick, Crystal, Kimber, Jessica, Melissa, Rob “Bobo”, Cassandra, Jacob, Lauren, Victoria, Tiffany, Stephanie, Samantha, David, Jr., Alyssa and Ethan; 29 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Johnnie Epperson, Patricia Chamblee and Anita Moses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ealton Tate; son, Tony Tate; parents, Dowell and Gertrude Kelley; and sisters, Virginia Springer, Margaret Chamblee, Vivian Farmer and Shirley Hall. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, 3001 9th St, Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096. Time to be determined.
