Judith Ann Grubb

Judith “Judy” Ann Grubb (nee Williams) passed away at her home in Zion, IL on January 22nd, 2021. Born to Robert and Eileen Williams on May 20th, 1952 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL, she grew up the oldest of four children in Winthrop Harbor, IL, where at one time she worked as the Director of Children’s Ministries at the United Methodist Church. A college graduate from Northern Illinois University, she returned home with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education; she used these skills well in her 36 years as a teacher at Zion-Benton Township High School. She began attending Wesley Church, Free Methodist in Waukegan, IL, where she met the love of her life and later married Leon R. Grubb Jr. on March 23rd, 1985. During her lifetime, Judy was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. While at Wesley Church, Judy led a Tri-W Christian Weight Loss Program, several home-group bible studies, and served as mentor to newly engaged/wedded couples through the church’s Engagement Weekends. Judy then began attending Christ Community Church in Zion, IL, where she enjoyed participating in several different ministries including volunteering for the Annual Camp Zion Spaghetti Dinner and Auction, creating the Children’s Bulletin every week for 20 years, and working as a Mom’s Mentor and the Steering Committee for TeenMOPS. Judy enjoyed working as the Head of Security of Personal Property for the actors during the Zion Passion Play, and participated in several different Ladies Crafting Circles. Her specialties included knitting, sewing, crochet, and baking over 1000 cookies every Christmas - just ask anyone who was a lucky recipient of one of her Goodies! Judy was also an accomplished poet, her self-published book “From the Inside Out” can be found for sale on the Amazon website. In her lifetime, Judy served over 7000 students during her time at ZBTHS and touched countless other lives in her years of ministering the Love of Christ for everyone she met. Judy’s grandchildren remember their Nana as a loving and caring woman who treasured her time with “Nana’s Girls” and every moment spent with them. Judy is survived by her husband, Leon, their daughter, Elisabeth (Frankie Hoffman) and adopted son Sean Gray (Abiageal Niccolai), grand babies Jaina (10), Hadassah Rose (8), and Sandra “Sandy” (6), her parents-in-law who were very much Mom and Dad (Glenn and Judy) Clark, her brothers, Larry (Jackie) and Don (Robin) Williams, her in-laws that became another family - Crystal (Bill) Britzman, Doug (Mary) Grubb, Todd (Amy) Grubb, and Tiffany (Matt) Marshall, 17 nieces and nephews, 12 grand nieces and nephews, her beloved cousin Kim Hinks, and several members of extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Williams and Eileen M. Williams (nee Hacker), her baby brother James R. Williams, beloved cousin Rick Hinks, and grand baby Angel Gray. As a die-hard fan, Judy’s wishes were to be cremated and to be scattered in Packer-town USA, Green Bay, WI. Funeral officiation was held in private for the family, and a memorial will be held on May 22nd, 2021 at Christ Community Church in honor of what would have been her 69th birthday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Judy’s honor be made to the Christ Community Church Missions Fund or to Camp Zion Ministries.
