Obituary of Michelle L Wurtzinger

Michelle Wurtzinger, 66, of Carriere, MS, passed away peacefully on February, 20, 2021 in Beach Park, IL surrounded by her loving family. Michelle was born January 24, 1955 in Waukegan, IL, and is a former resident of Zion, IL and Pensacola, FL. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township Highschool with the class of 1973. Michelle worked as a human resource specialist at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and the Naval Air Station Pensacola. She spent the past 22 years at the John C. Stennis NASA test site in Mississippi. Through her dedication, attention to detail and service she received many awards and accommodations. She enjoyed being part of the “Has Beens” bowling team and playing bunco. Living close to New Orleans she became the consummate tour guide to all who visited and she loved the New Orleans Saints. Michelle had a heart of gold, helping everyone she met on life’s path. Her biggest joys were spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren grow and treasuring their accomplishments. Michelle is survived by her daughters, Leslie Reynolds; and Hollie (Todd) King; grandchildren, Brianna, Bailey, and Brady; sister, Patricia (Steve) Laird; niece, Nikki Laird; nephew, Stephen (Ali) Laird; and a great-nephew, Stevie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Jean Hoyt; and the love of her life, Bruce Minnis. A service for close friends and family will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon. If you are unable to attend in person you are welcome to join via the live stream link on this page.
