Susan M. Schmidt

Susan Marie Schmidt, 76, of Zion, IL passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Susan was born January 11, 1945, in Waukegan, IL to Edward and Edna Cvengros. She attended Zion Benton Township High School graduating with the class of 1963. She was employed with the Waukegan Housing Authority and City of Waukegan. Susan is survived by her children, Loyann (Roger) Darbro, Craig Schmidt and Lainie (Michael) Newman; grandchildren, Tyler Brittain, Michael Newman, Malorie Newman and Kaitlyn Newman; siblings, Andrew (Laurie) Cvengros and Ruthann (Richard) Kamerad; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Terry Patterson (KIA-Vietnam); second husband, James L. Schmidt; and grandson, Chad Brittain. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial services will be private for the family.
