Richard Wayne Funk passed away on April 30, 2021. He was born on February 21, 1939 in Merrill, WI the son of Chester (Ellen) Funk. He moved to Zion, IL in 1951. He was a 1957 Zion Benton High School graduate, where he then joined the Air Force. He attended Devry Tech School in Chicago after serving. He owned his own antenna service "Dicks Antenna Service" for many years. He also worked many years in electronics. His faith in God was very important to him and he raised his children to attend Lutheran schools their whole lives. He served on the first school board at Our Savior's Lutheran School. He has served as President of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Zion, IL. He also served at Shoreland Lutheran High School in Somers, WI on general and public relations boards. Richard also took part and served on Beach Park Planning and Zoning Committee.
He is survived by his wife who he married in 1962 Sandra Kaye Funk; children, Gary Funk, Diane (Phillip) Quinn, Christine (Jeremy) Gregerson; and special grandson Nathan Gregerson; sister Mary Brown of San Diego, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Barbara Sauer; and brother Ronald Funk.
In lieu of flowers and donations can be made our to Our Savior's Lutheran Church and School.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. also at the church located at 1800 23rd Street, Zion, IL. Interment will be private.
