Liberty Wilhelm

1969 — October 26, 2021

Liberty (Bhet) Barcellano Wilhelm passed away on October 26 at the age of 52, after complications with previous medical issues. Liberty was born in San Jose, Malilipot, Albay, Philippines on January 15, 1969 to parents Leticia and Alberto Banares. Growing up she was a very intelligent and curious minded individual. She loved her family dearly and sought out ways to help those closest to her even at a young age. She graduated from Olongapo City High School in Olongapo City in 1987. During her time in college she fell in love with politics and ways to help those that were facing injustice. It was also during this time where she met, then later married her husband, Kenneth Wilhelm on January 5 1990. Liberty is known by her family and closest friends to be a kind, loving and caring mother. Liberty faced multiple challenges in her life; escaping the Mount Pinatubo eruption, traversing an unknown country by herself, battling diabetes and more. But even when faced against challenging obstacles, where the odds were against her, she fought and emerged victorious. She loved to learn new things every day and always had her friends and family on her mind. She will be remembered by everyone for her unconditional capacity for love and her unrelenting resilience. Liberty’s spirit and resilience will live on in others as she was a registered organ donor. Liberty is survived by husband, Kenneth, sons, Christopher and Jeremiah, sisters, Amore and Rizza, brothers, Dennis and Francis. Services will be held at the Church of St Patrick in Wadsworth on Friday, Nov 5th at 9:00AM. She will be cremated and be buried in the Philippines, next to her parents per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association or the Gift of Hope Foundation.
