Obituary of Randall William Seegren

Randall William Seegren, 59, passed away on December 19, 2021 in Zion, Illinois. He was born September 28, 1962 in Waukegan, to parents of Swedish heritage. Randy loved his childhood at the lakefront in Winthrop Harbor, where he made life-long friends who joined him in exploring the sandy dunes and nature preserve. After graduating from Jack Benny Junior High, he attended Waukegan Christian School and was a member of the basketball team. For many years, Randy worked with his father on residential remodeling and outdoor deck projects at homes all over Lake County. He also had jobs with a national shoe company, several pizza shops, a cabinet manufacturer, a boat builder, resale on a car lot, and a roofing contractor. His skill and craftsmanship were also expressed when he made custom knives. Randy’s health conditions and severe arthritis in more recent years prevented him from continuing to work. But regardless of whatever job he held, he took great pride in doing it well. Surviving are sister Kris Seegren of Beach Park, and brother Ken (Janet) Seegren of Tempe, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanor Seegren. On Tuesday evening, December 28, 2021, friends are invited to a time of visitation beginning at 5:00pm with a Memorial Service following at 6:00pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL 60099. Randy loved animals, and he loved spending time with his many friends, who typically referred to him as "Big Randy" or "Moose". Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an animal rescue agency of your choice – or simply go out for pizza with some of your friends.
