Obituary of Allen L. O'Dette

Allen L. O’Dette, 78, of Gurnee, IL, passed away on January 1, 2022. Allen was born July 5, 1943 in Waukegan, IL to Barney and Helen (Petersen) O’Dette. He cherished his early memories of life on the farm in Dodgeville, WI. Allen graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School with the class of 1962. He married Cheryl Kleineschay on August 26, 1974 in Waukegan, IL. Allen always took great pride in his work, he retired from Chrysler Corp. in 2004 after 30 years in Kenosha, WI as a pipefitter and went on to own and operate O’Dette Plumbing for many years until just recently retiring. He was a member of the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge. Allen was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and cherished his time with his family. He is survived by his wife 48 years, Cheryl; children, Detra (Rich) Conley, Roxanne (Kevin) Michels, Christy O’Dette, and Brian (Becca) O’Dette; grandchildren, James (Krista) Glogovsky, Mallorie (Cody) Staples, Amanda Michels, Nicholas Michels, Mitchell Reich, Gabriel, Audrey, and Zach O’Dette; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Mike) Kremply; brother, Dennis (Meg) O’Dette; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Ralph Britt; and sister-in-law, Gennie Britt. Services for Allen will be private.
