Obituary of Joseph Matthew Czaplicki

Joseph Matthew Czaplicki, 83, of Zion, IL passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Joe was born April 8, 1938 in Chicago, IL to parents Joseph and Caroline Czaplicki. On May 10, 1976, he married Patricia at Church of God in Waukegan. Joe was a foreman for many years, first working with American Air Filter, and later Regal China. He was a member of the American Legion and an avid pilot, even building his own plane. Joe enjoyed collecting airplane paraphernalia, fishing, researching family genealogies and history, and spending time with his family. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Czaplicki; sons, Christopher (Andrea) Czaplicki, Thomas (Janelle) Czaplicki and Jason (Jamie La Palm) Czaplicki; grandchildren, Rachel (John Long) Czaplicki, Seejon (Laura) Czaplicki, Adam Czaplicki, Kenjin (Cora) Czaplicki, Clark (Ariah) Czaplicki and Amara (Alexander Kniowski) Czaplicki; great-grandchild, Judah Long; and sisters, Barbara Ferrantino and Sharon Fleenor. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Caroline Czaplicki; and siblings, Dorothy Mueller, Leonard Czaplicki, Betty Mostowski and Rita Schmidt. A memorial visitation will be held April 8, 2022 at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be held at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
