Obituary of Lucianna Laird Hoffman

Lucianna Laird Hoffman of Zion, Illinois was received into the arms of the Lord on January 2,2022 three weeks shy of her 102 nd birthday. She was born in New Canton, Illinois on January 23,1920 to the late Clement and Lucy Laird. On January 19, 1946 she married Donald Hoffman of Elgin. Her love of family was never more evident than when she and Don adopted Larry and Beth as babies from Lake Bluff Children’s Home making their family complete. Mrs. Hoffman was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as a Kindergarten Sunday School teacher. She worked for many years in the Library at Elmwood School where she enjoyed reading to the children. She loved walking and especially meeting her friends at the Waukegan Fitness Center. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Especially her daughter Beth Webb who was her caregiver and companion for many years. Mrs. Hoffman is also survived by her sister in-law Marian Sanders of New London, Wisconsin, by many nieces and nephews and her grandcat Mason Cooley. Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don and son Larry Hoffman, sisters, Linda Mae Plumleigh, Marjorie Sennholtz and brothers, John Laird, William Laird and Tom Laird. One of Lucianna’s greatest joys was when the Hoffman Family hosted Rudy Morice an AFS student from Costa Rica. Dr. Morice, currently resides in Houston, Texas. Lucianna’s unwavering faith and her gift of unconditional love was given freely to all her family, friends and everyone she met along the way. A celebration of life service will be held in the spring.
