Obituary of Mary May

Mary L. May, 73, of Zion, IL, went home to glory on January 12, 2022, at Vista East Hospital, Waukegan, IL. She was born September 30, 1948, in Coatopa, AL, to Louis and Louise May. Mary confessed to Christ and was baptized at St. John’s Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Johnson. Mary attended school in Coatopa, AL. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends but especially her grandchildren and sisters. She was also well known in the community. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Annie L. May (Zion, IL) and Teonia (Donald Sr.) Buckhalter (Kenosha, WI), five grandchildren: Keonnia Gentry, Zaria Barnes, Gianni Harris, Brooklyn Scott, and Donald Jr (DJ). She also leaves behind three beloved sisters: Augusta May (Gurnee, IL), Elett (Craig) Peterkin (Charleston, SC), and Christine Davis (Palatine, IL) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Louise May, three sisters: Josie B. Moore, Annie Lee Williams, and Bernecie Williams-Easley, three nephews: Ira Williams, Jr., Nevelle Williams, Sr., and Rayford Williams, and great nephew: Jacob Williams.
