Obituary of Bruce William O'Neill

Bruce William O’Neill, 72, of Zion, Illinois passed away on Friday April 8, 2022. Bruce was born on March 18, 1950 to the late William and Helen O’Neill. His career included several jobs but the delight of his life was starting Liberty Prison Ministries in 1984 which continued until early 2022. He was a volunteer chaplain in two Illinois and four Wisconsin prisons. Bruce was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; parents, William and Helen O’Neill: nephew, Keith Kimmel; brother-in-law, Dick Kimmel He is survived by his dear wife Nancy; daughter Valerie (Tom) Strzyz; grandchildren: Bill and John Strzyz; sister Carol (Jerry) Wright; brother Brian O’Neill; two very dear sisters-in-law’s Joan and Linda Dockery, nephews: Stephen Kimmel and Keenan O’Neill and a niece Taylor O’Neill. Bruce will be remembered as a man who cared deeply and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. Monday, April 18, 2022 the family will celebrate Bruce’s life with visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Wright, officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Greenwood Cemetery.
