Obituary of Timothy D. Johnson

Timothy D Johnson passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, surrounded by his family at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Robert Johnson and Carolyn Jean Johnson and was born in Waukegan, Illinois on February 21, 1954. Tim gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and continued to live his life in service to the Lord. He married Trudi Lynn Johnson (Emanuelson) on June 14, 1980 at Christ Community Church in Zion, Illinois. He and Trudi had two children, Elise R. Martinez (Luis), and Andrew J. Johnson as well as one granddaughter, Amelia Rose Martinez. Tim loved his family more than anything in the world and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Tim graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1972 and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas; and graduated from Christian Life College in Mt. Prospect, Illinois with a degree in Biblical Studies. While at Christ for the Nations, Tim sang in the Living Praise Choir and traveled extensively in the United States and took three international trips to bring the gospel to the world through worship. Tim and Trudi led worship for 41 years at many churches on the North Shore. He also served as a deacon and pastor. For the past 10 years, Tim has pastored a church in his home. Anyone who knew Tim associated him with anointed worship through singing and playing guitar. He will be forever loved and remembered by his mother Jean Johnson, sister Linette Parrish, sister in law Holly Emanuelson, brother in law Kurt Emanuelson (Deb), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his formal education, Tim was endlessly creative, a skilled craftsman, and builder. He designed and built his family home with the help of his father, Robert Johnson, with whom he had a general contracting company called Johnson-Johnson, Inc. for 16 years. Tim knew how to fix anything. He loved most to be in his garden, planting flowers and trees, and spending time outside with Trudi. He had a deep heart for people. He was quick witted and able to make people laugh and feel at ease around him. At the end of his journey, he really began to know his Abba Father (Romans 8:15) and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. He learned to take one day at a time, trusting that the Holy Spirit would teach him all things (John 14:26). He is preceded in death by his father Robert A. Johnson. We can only imagine that reunion in Heaven. Tim is singing in the best choir now. Visitation is Monday, May 16, 2022 from 10:30am-12:00pm with the memorial service immediately following at noon. All services will be held at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL 60099.
