Obituary of Shirley E Lopez

Shirley E. Lopez, 86, of Wadsworth, IL passed away on August 20, 2022, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born on January 18, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Emma (Peslak) Bogdala but has lived in the Waukegan area for over 80 years.

Shirley retired from Fansteel, Waukegan, in 1998.

She loved watching old westerns, Molly B Polka's, and listening to various music, primarily the Eagles and Willy Nelson. Long rides in the car and going to casinos was her favorite thing to do. During the Christmas holidays, she enjoyed making cookies and watching her grandkids and great-grandchildren open their gifts. In her early years, she loved camping with her family and having picnics at the lake. For the last few years of her life, she loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Shirley has always said that her greatest gift in life was her family.

She is survived by her children Ramond Lopez of Haward, WI, Lori (Juan) Colon of Wadsworth, IL, Debra (Lori) Lopez of Franklin, WI, and Judy Lopez of Flower Mound, Texas. Daughter-in-law, Lori Darman. Grandchildren, Jason (Taneeka) Lopez, Ray, Johnny, Jimmy, Joey, Jordan, Sarah, and Maria Lopez; Daniel (Karen) Colon, Jacob Qualls, and Rocio Colon; and great-grandchildren, Isabella Susan and Mia Maria Costa; Marcus and Christian Estrada; Leo, Landyn and Levi Lopez; Michael and Lincoln Colon; Victor and Zaira Felix, Alex and Olivia Colon; Jadah, Jazai, Jason Jr. Lopez, Keondai, Nayeli and Alonzo Lopez and Eden; her sister Sandra Drennen; sister-in-laws Jeanie Bodgala and Beverly Bogdala; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dearest friends Rose Gesky, Nancy Mcpherson, Sue Mankowski and many more. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Emma; her spouse Ramon R. Lopez, Grandson Robert J. Colon; brothers, Roger Bogdala, Hank Bogdala, Frank Bogdala Jr., Richard Bogdala; sister Delores Eveline; sisters-in-law, Ellen Bogdala and Marilyn Bogdala; brothers-in-law Ronnie Drennen.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 25 from 5 to 8 pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion IL. Funeral Service Friday, August 26, 11am with visitation at 10am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 3350 N. Delany Rd, Waukegan IL 60087. Interment following at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. 

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

We will miss our mother deeply yet are so grateful for her love. We’ll be seeing you, mom..... with all of our love, Ray, Lori, Deb, and Judy.
