Obituary of Shirley Cowart

Shirley Ann Cowart, 81, of Waukegan, IL passed away on September 26, 2022 at her daughters home in Ingleside, IL. 

She was the daughter of Oral and (Margaret nee Hafer) Oberlin, born on June 7, 1941 in Grayslake, IL.

Shirley married her husband on July 2, 1960 in Waukegan, IL. where they raised seven children. Shirley enjoyed puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of her pets and gambling with her sisters.

She is survived by her children, Steve Cowart, Rick Cowart, Dan (Renee) Cowart, Sandy (Jim) Woodruff, Chris (Steve) Wilburn, Susan Cowart, Brian (Kate) Cowart; grandchildren Matthew Cowart, Nathan Cowart, Kyle Cowart, Alyssa Cowart, Braeden Cowart, Josef Woodruff, David Woodruff, Erich Woodruff, Jacob Wilburn, Madison Wilburn, Mitchell Wilburn, Elliot Cowart, Charlie Cowart, Lucille Cowart; sister Marge Oberlin; her niece and nephews, and great nieces, and nephews; daughter-in-law Barbara Joy.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ellie Cowart; and sister Marlene Huckabone. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099.
