Obituary of Wilma Gordon

Doris Gordon,90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 11, 2022. She was born on January 18, 1932 in Lapoint, UT the daughter of William, and Mamie(Simpson) McNabb.
 
Doris grew up in Utah until her family moved to Cleveland, TN until 1944 when her family settled in Zion, IL. She graduated from Zion Benton High School class of 1950, shortly after marrying her husband William James Gordon II on June 2, 1952 at Christian Assembly of God. Doris worked at Johns Manville as a secretary until she retired in 1990. Doris loved God, and was devoted to her church. She helped in the Women's Ministry, and was a mentor to many, she would help her daughter Cynthia on Wednesday with the church's food pantry. She also enjoyed reading a lot of books, and shared her passion to read with children as well helping them read at school or church. Her greatest love was her family, and granddaughters, spending all her free time taking her grandchildren to new places and making sure her family was taken care of. 
 
Doris is survived by her two sons, Paul (Patricia) Gordon, William James Gordon III; granddaughters, Bethany (Phil) Eckstadt, Aubrian (fiance Gabe Brandies) Gordon; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
 
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Gordon; husband William Jame Gordon II; parents; siblings, Louise (Hall) McNabb, Claude McNabb, Edith McNabb, Fred McNabb, Lois (Straight) McNabb, Harold McNabb.
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Assembly of God. Located at 2929 Bethel Blvd, Zion, IL 60099. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
