Obituary of Ronald C. Johnson
Ronald C. Johnson, 74, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away at his home surrounded by his family on February 15, 2023. He was born on March 19, 1948 the son of Edwin and Grace ( Jensen) Johnson in Waukegan, IL.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Lake County, IL, and graduated from Warren Township High School. He married the love of his life Mary E. Teel on September 3, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Zion, IL. Ron worked for twenty-five years as a building and grounds director for Oak Grove School District 68 in Libertyville, IL.
Ron was a disabled Vietnam war veteran, but that didn't stop him from doing the things he loved, which was hunting and being an avid gun owner gunsmith; treasure hunting for vintage collectibles with his wife Mary; and living for his family including smokey. Ron's only drink of choice was Pepsi Cola, coke was banned from his house!, he had an extensive Pepsi, train and model collection.
Ron is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Teel) Johnson; children, Angela Johnson, Christopher (Monica) Johnson; grandchildren, Derek (Estelle) Nelson, Justin (Emma) Berg; two great-grandchildren, Dean Nelson, Ronald Nelson; siblings, Eugene (Nell) Johnson, Virginia Johnson; brother-in-law, Daniel Banks; sister-in-law, Dorothy Banks; and many special nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Johnson; brother-in-law Dave Teel; mother & father-in-law.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 4:00p.m. followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m., located at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion,IL 60099.
