Obituary of Michael LaLond

Michael John LaLond, 77, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away on March 14, 2023 in Evanston, IL. He was born on October 22, 1945 the son of Alexander LaLond and Melvina Morgan. 

 

Michael graduated from the Lane Tech College Prep High School class of 1964, then earning a Bachelor's of Science degree specializing as a Chemical Engineer at the University of Wisconsin in 1974. He worked in the international mining industry as a senior manager of Quality Assurance initially for IMC (29 years), then for PCS (14 years). He married the love of his life of 56 years Patricia Margaret Myers on April 2, 1966 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church located in Waukegan Illinois. Michael was blessed to travel the world for work and pleasure with Pat, he was very athletic and loved hockey and played until he was 72 years old. He was an avid fisherman, and a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks. Michael was successful and has several patents that were published in numerous technical publications that improved multiple  process equipment configurations. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia LaLond; children, Michelle (John) McCann, Michael (Tracy) LaLond; many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins;  and brother Daniel LaLond.

 

He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey LaLond; his grandchildren (Devon LaLond and Jeffrey Gilbert); brothers Alexander, Thomas, and Timothy Joe and his parents. 

 

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home , 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099.
