Obituary of Evelyn Polzin

Evelyn Polzin, 81, of Zion, Illinois passed away March 16, 2023 in Zion, Illinois. Evelyn was born March 15, 1942 in Clyde, Ohio to parents Homer and Delphine Dearsman. 

Evelyn was part of a navy family, moving around a lot when she was younger, traveling the world with her family. Evelyn married her husband Arthur Polzin in October of 1964. They settled in Zion in 1981. 

After graduating highschool, Evelyn went into the navy for four years. After completing her time in the navy she started working at the Navy Exchange at Great Lakes Naval Base as a retail sales clerk, coming back as a vendor for over 20 years. 

Evelyn was an avid golfer, bowler, and gardener. She loved to spend her time outdoors and with her family. Evelyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. 

Evelyn is survived by her children, Tonya (Rick) Wasicki and Arthur Polzin Jr.; Grandchildren Allison Wallace, Joseph Wallace, Jessica Polzin; Furry grand dogs and cat Kobe, River and Mia; Sister, Maxine Nichols; Nieces and Nephews, Alice Corbett, Debbie Stephens, Renee Collins, Mary Roberts, Charlie Roberts, Tina Maddox, David Dearsman, Chris Dearsman, Debbie Ham, and Carol Black.

Evelyn was proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur Polzin; Parents Homer and Delphine Dearsman; four siblings, and little dog Snickers.

A visitation will be held Monday March 20, 2023 at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, 60099 from 4 to 6pm. Followed by a funeral service at 6pm at Congdon Funeral Home.
