Obituary of Janice Butts

JANICE LEONE BUTTS
Janice “Jan” Leone Butts, 90, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and formerly of Lake Placid, Florida and Zion, IL
died on Friday, March 24, 2023 at her home in Kenosha, Wisconsin surrounded by her family.

Janice was born on April 26, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois and married Lewis “Bill” William Butts on May 12,
1951.

She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, IL. Janice was employed by
Richard Abel Book Company, Zion State Bank and PNC Bank while raising her 5 children. While living in
Lake Placid she volunteered at Tropical Harbor and wrote the monthly newsletter. She loved cats and
enjoyed doing puzzles, listening to music, dancing and spending time with her family. She was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 7.

Survivors include her son, Jerry (Gail) Butts of Winthrop Harbor, IL; daughter, Joanne (Paul) Power of
Santa Fe, NM; son, Jon (Anastasia) Brock of Gurnee, IL; son, James (Veronica) Butts of Pleasant Prairie,
WI; and son, William (Yolanda) Butts of Galena, IL.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012
Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of
service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in
her name.
