Obituary of Willis D. Wood

We regretfully announce the passing of Willis D. Wood on May 15th, 2023 at the age of 89. Willis fought a long battle with cancer and is finally at rest. He will be forever loved and forever remembered. No services will take place, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rex & Paulean Wood, his sisters, Rebecca Frances & Evelyn June, his brothers, Paul Andrew & Jimmie Rex and his beloved daughter Kathleen Ann. He is survived by his sisters, Doris Ruth & Shirley Jean, his sons Michael Andrew & James David (Cheryl) Wood . Also survived by his grandchildren Andrew James, Kimberly Ann and his great grandchildren - RayAnn, Chloe & Elijah.

Willis was born in Gary, Indiana on August 19th, 1933. After graduation he joined the Army and was sent to Greenland for arctic training during the Korean War. After the war he started working at the EJ&E Railroad where he worked tirelessly to provide for his family until his retirement in 1985.

He spent a lot of his free time building or remodeling the homes we lived in. After long hours of work he still found time to help his children get the best education they could and pursue all the activities we wanted to try. He was very skilled at both bowling & golfing, and enjoyed them as often as he could.
