Robert Lee Collier, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Robert was born in Memphis, TN on January 26, 1942, to the late Edward Lee Collier and Ardellia Mahone.

On April 1, 1961, he united in holy matrimony to Delorese Collier.  The union was made complete when they were blessed with their three children.

Robert joined the United States Navy on January 29, 1959, until his retirement after proudly serving for 30 years. Upon his retirement from the military, Robert also worked and retired from Bachelor Housing at Great Lakes Naval Base.  He also worked security for ComEd in Waukegan.

Robert enjoyed watching his Chicago Bulls and Westerns…his favorite was Gunsmoke.  He also made sure he always had a nice car to drive around town.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, mother, Ardellia, and sister, Helen Young.

He leaves to cherish, his loving wife of 62 years, Delorese, one daughter, Lori Collier (Robert Jones) of Fayetteville GA, two sons, Gregory (Michelle Collier) of Hampton GA, and Bobby (Sharica Collier) of Zion IL. One brother, Henry (Delois) Weymon of South Bend, IN, two sisters, Shirlie Evans of Flint, MI and MaryAnne Talton of Louisville, KY. Five grandchildren, Shelvaughn Urquhart, Trenise Collier, Christopher Williams, Sidney (Emani) Collier and Lauryn Collier.  Great grandchildren, Brisynn Urquhart, Sarai, Julieus, Julian, Amari’yah Williams, Nyellie, Noel, Noah, Navy Lee, Luna, Matilda, Calliope and Landon Collier.  Sisters-in-law, Bertha Fortune (Jacksonville FL), and Janice Taylor (Perris CA).  Brothers-in-law, Roland (Gail) Akins (Hiram GA), Adolphus Akins, Michael Akins, and Felton Aikens (Jacksonville FL).  As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A visitaion will be held Saturday July 8, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, IL 60099. Followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home. Entombment to take place at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, Illinois.
