Obituary of Martha Sylvia Rocha- Bernabe

Martha Sylvia (nee Rocha) Bernabe,75, passed away on July 29, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1948 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Martha at a young age came to live in Chicago in 1959, she worked hard and created a life here with her late Husband Salvador Bernabe. They were married September 25, 1971 in Chicago, IL. After retiring from her job, her caring personality led her to become a caregiver to others and her grandchildren. She lived in Arizona for several years with her son and grandchildren, until moving back to the Chicago area. Martha was a strong, determined person, she wasn't afraid to give advice or stand up for her family. She always put her children, and grandchildren first, and often took them out to eat when she could or cook a delicious meal for them. She was a member of New Hope Church in Gurnee, Illinois.

Martha is survived by her two sons, Jorge (Lupe) Bernabe, David Bernabe; grandchildren, Austin Bernabe, Liam Bernabe, Rebeka Bernabe, Isaac Bernabe; siblings, Laura Gonzalez, and Thomas Rocha; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Bernabe; and mother, Beatriz Cruz.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Church, located at 5501 Stearns School Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.
