Sterling Griffie Range, of Zion Illinois, passed away August 31, 2023 in Waukegan Illinois. He was born February 14, 1983 to parents Abba and Marvin Range.
Sterling was a kind and humble young soul who was quick to help anyone in need. He was strong-willed, respectable, and a jokester. Sterling was the embodiment of the age of decadence; he relished in revisiting 80’s movies, music, and culture. He had a deep love of cars and the feel of the open air while riding a motorcycle or a scooter. He had a passion for law enforcement and security.
Throughout his life, he was awarded and recognized for his excellence in customer service, his duty, and his generosity. He was working towards a career in law enforcement when he passed. While doing that, he also deejayed for local parties and graduations.
Sterling absolutely loved WWE, the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed eating good food of all kinds. Sterling was deeply devoted to his church, Our Lady of Humility. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the church choir.
He is survived by his beloved mother whom he adored, Abba Range, older sister,Teresa Range-Eca (Robert Eca) of Illinois, middle sister, Lori Langford (Victor Langford) of Arizona, and youngest sister, Pamela Hammon (Lyle Hammon) of California, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Range.
His absence is deeply felt in the hearts of his surviving family and friends. Sterling was often the glue that held the family together, the mediator, or the calm presence in a storm. His laughter was contagious, and could light up a room.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday September 13, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan road Zion, Illinois 6009 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home.
