Creola Harris

1949 — January 19, 2024

Creola was born on April. 18, 1949 to Ruby Green Hines and William Green in Inverness Mississippi. Creola was one of nine children born to Ruby and William Green, two brothers and six sisters.

Creola attended Gentry High school until 9 th grade in Indianola, Mississippi. Over the years Creola has lived in Buffalo, New York, Chicago, Illinois, Racine, Wisconsin, Cudahy, Wisconsin, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Zion, Illinois, Waukegan, Illinois, and North Chicago, Illinois with her family.

Creola united into marriage with Ernest Reed in 1964. The couple had four children, three girls and one boy. The couple moved to Buffalo, New York in 1971 before their last child was born. They lived there two years then parted ways. Creola moved to Chicago, Illinois with her children. Creola lived in Chicago for many years as a single mother, divorced, until she met Johnnie Harris in 1978. He was a loving and kind

man who accepted and loved Creola and her children. Johnnie and Creola became the proud parents of their youngest child in 1979, then there were five. The couple joined in holy matrimony on August.3, 1980 and were married happily until Johnnie’s passing in December of 1999.

Creola (sis) Harris was a kind and generous person. She was supportive and a great help to all who knew her. Creola’s last career endeavor before her retirement in 2015 was her most endearing. She loved working with the students at Zion Benton High school. The students truly respected and loved Creola. She was a very nurturing person, a great mom, grandmother, and sister. She loved dressing up, especially for church and special events. She loved decorating her house inside and out with holiday decorations, especially

during Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Creola was always straight forward and would be very honest with you.

Creola departed this life on Friday, January 19, 2024 in North Chicago, Illinois with her Grandson, Jujuan Harris by her bed side and her oldest Daughter, Cassandra Brickhouse on the phone. Creola was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Harris; Daughters,

Andrea Reed and Tiffany Harris; Siblings, William Green Jr., Lucinda Green, and Maryann Green; Mother -in- Law, Minnie Reed-Hall; and Ex- husband, Ernest Reed.
