Howard L. Cook, 81, of Antioch, IL, passed away on February 16, 2024.
Howard was born October 25, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Louis and Wanda Cook. Howard earned his Paralegal License and Bachelors in Business from Carthage College in Wisconsin. He was blessed with marriage to Janice Pippert on June 24, 1962 in Mason City, Iowa and together they lovingly raised three children. Howard worked for Packaging Corp in Evanston, IL. He was an active member of Christian Assembly of God in Zion, IL for many years where he served numerous terms on the Board including as Chairman of the Board. Howard enjoyed attending church services and events, riding motorcycles, reading science fiction, grilling out at family gatherings, and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Janice; children, Christopher L. Cook, Gregory S. (Debra) Cook, and Patricia M. Osborn; grandchildren, Tim Knutson, Calvin Cook, Christopher D. Cook, Kaylee Cook, and Kyle Nichols; great-granddaughter, Aurora Jan Cook-Petric; and siblings, Sharon Sekulich, Mary Barber, Ada (Chuck) Nelson, Waiva Sreid, Star Crowson, and Reo (Paulette) Hoots; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather Henry Hoots; brother, Gary Cook; and son-in-law, Carroll Osborn.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Christian Assembly of God Church, 2929 Bethel Blvd., Zion, IL. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Ken Fielding, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
