Obituary of LeRoy Cliff

Arland LeRoy Cliff, of Crystal River, Florida, went home to heaven February 27, 2024 in Lecanto, Florida. He was born November 8, 1936 in Zion, Illinois.

LeRoy is a ZBTHS graduate and also studies at Black Hills State University. LeRoy taught and coached at ZBTHS for 34 years where he enjoyed his “Fighting Zee-Bees” both on and off the field. He is Zion’s most successful coach in it’s history, winning 5 conference championship titles with 6 apperances in the state play-offs. He was inducted into the Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame, BHSU Hall of Fame, and the ZBTHS Coaches Corner. LeRoy was a member of the Parson’s Memorial Church in Florida and Christ Community Church in Zion.  LeRoy enjoyed traveling with his wife Marty, whom he married August 23 of 2006, across America, as well as fishing in Wisconsin. LeRoy loved people, a great joke, and sharing all of his life’s stories with anyone who will listen. LeRoy was full of joy and expressed it everyday. His zest for life will be truly missed by all. 

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Marty Cliff; children, Michele (Dale) Batz, Michael Cliff, Jeff Pahl, and Greg (Cheryl) Pahl; grandchildren, Rachael Pahl, Kaitlyn Pahl, and Tommy Pahl.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Irene and Arland Cliff; Kay Cliff; Elinor Bachler; Arlene Robbins; and grandson, Cory Batz.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday March 8, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive Zion, Illinois 60099. A secondary memorial visitation will be held Saturday March 9, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church.
