Elda Mae Long

1941 — March 10, 2024

Elda Mae "Elsie" Long, 83, of Beach Park, Ill, passed away on March 10, 2024. Born on March 16, 1941, in Windber,MINE #40, PA, Elsie lived a full life surrounded by love.

The following is a brief over view of her life's journey:

Having met the love of her life (at the roller rink). They were soon married and moved to Illinois for work and to raise their 3 children.

Elda and her husband Cyril worked hard. Elda at Abbot Labs and later Cherry Electric(industrial master degree through Cherry) and Cyril worked as a Rail Road conductor, did auto body repair, and eventually they started a small business together (Long's Service station, a full service gas station with auto repair and sales)

Elda did the books, sold the cars, and even towed the cars-She made everything work.

Having a car lot Elda would often be testing out the inventory… including the prime examples of the era's high horse power cars… quality control ;o) LOLO and even did the powder puff racing at the old Waukegan Speed Way.

During the CB radio days she talked CB (her handle was Crash!!!) She retired and enjoyed crocheting and watching her westerns on TV.

Elda was a devoted wife and mother the love for her family was evident in everything she did. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished and loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles T.Sr and Edith A. Webb, her husband Cyril J. Long, her sister Inez Anderson, her sister Darlene Schirf.

She is survived by her brother Charles T. Webb Jr., her children Lawrence A.Long, Cyril J.Long and Christine A. Alm (John), Her 6 grandchildren

Devan Riley, Brandy Richmond, Timothy Feldshau, Jessica Long, Catharine Buslawski, Sabrina Long, and her 8 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor and remember Elsie's remarkable life. May she rest in peace, knowing she was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
