Mary Virginia Harvey

Mary Virginia Harvey, 95, of Waukegan, IL, passed away on May 2, 2024.

Virginia was born in Louisville, KY on September 17, 1928. After graduation, she took a position with the government in Washington, DC. It was there she met Bill, her husband of over 60 years. They were married in Bethesda, Maryland in 1950.

Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. She also excelled in cooking, sewing and was a fantastic cake decorator. She also found the time to volunteer for organizations such as Navy Relief and Meals on Wheels. Her leisure time included a daily crossword puzzle (or two), several games of solitaire, bargain hunting, and she especially loved spending time with her large family.

Virginia is survived by her children, Susan A. Sams, Betty J. Longo (Ronald Suetmeyer); grandchildren, Sarah Cansler (Patrick), Michael Sams, Matthew Sams, David B. Harvey, Andrea Longo, Rachel M. Harvey, Leah A. Pibolis (Christopher), Virginia Longo, Katherine Herbster (Ken), Kyle Cory (Stephanie) and Richard Harvey. She also had 20 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Billy D. Harvey, her daughter Karen L. Cory, and her son David E. Harvey.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday May 11, 2024 from 10:30am-11:30am followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099.
