Obituary of Earl Mitchell

Earl R. Mitchell, 80, of Beach Park, Illinois, went home to be with the lord on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, Illinois. Earl was born March 16, 1926 in Zion. On November 21, 1947 he married Ann E. Cook of Zion in Zion. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School and attended Michigan State University. He also attended Immanuel Church of Gurnee. He owned and operated Earl Mitchell Nursery of Beach Park and he retired in 1992 from the highway department of Benton Township. A Veteran of World War II, Earl served with the Army Air Corps. A faithful and loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, Earl leaves his loving wife of 59 years Ann E. (nee Cook) Mitchell; children Cristie (Warren) Wetherbee of Palm Harbor, Florida, Ken (Debra) Mitchell of Beach Park, Elizabeth (Richard) Carlson of Benton, Kentucky and Ellen (Daniel) Snyder of Gurnee, Illinois; grandchildren Erica Wetherbee, Audrey (Tom) Doane, Ryan (Michelle) Wetherbee, Kelly and Marc Mitchell, Derek and Tim Carlson, and Kurt, Erik and Scott Snyder; two great-grandchildren Mikayla and Aiden Wetherbee; two sisters Mary (Robert) Fischer of California and Edith (Russell) Heidenreich of Ohio; and one sister-in-law Dorothy Mitchell of Zion, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one brother Theodore Mitchell; and his parents Myrtle and Lewis Mitchell. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Bohrman and Rev. Don Tremper officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Immanuel Church of Gurnee, Arbor Fund, has been suggested.
