Obituary of Violet McCormack

Violet May McCormack,79, of Waukegan, IL, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Violet was born September 24, 1927, in Waukegan, IL, and married John E. McCormack on December 18, 1978, in Waukegan. She was a former employee of Warwick Electronics, Victory Memorial Hospital (Vista Medical Center East), Abbott Laboratories and the News-Sun. Violet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed making crafts, and was a creative decorator. Violet loved animals (including her blind cat, Blinky), and was an avid bird watcher. She loved reading books about country living and early American History. Her favorite television series was Little House on the Prairie. Violet also enjoyed collecting and making Angels. Survivors include her husband of 28 years, John E. McCormack; daughters, Jackie (Philip) Clausen of Wadsworth, IL, and Tynna (Donald) Schroff of Bristol, WI; step-daughters, Ann McCormack of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rose (Charles) Nikolauzyk of Fayetteville, IL; granddaughters, Barbara Tiskus of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Angela Wright of Kenosha, WI, Melanie Rudd of Bristol, WI, Christynna Thomas of Kenosha, WI, and Donna Schroff of Bristol, WI; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, Johnny, Carissa, and Tommy; sisters, Betty Lee (Paul) Beetschen of Zion, IL, Lois (Robert) DePew of Welches, Oregon,and Barbara (Fred) Born of Crystal River, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in her father and mother, Lee and Aloma Durant; son, William Rigney Jr.; and sister, Vivian Durant in 1993. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, with Rev. Jeffrey Koth of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Waukegan, officiating. Interment is private for the family. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2007, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Help Them to Hope Fund of the Waukegan News -Sun, 2383 N. Delany Rd., Waukegan, IL 60087 would be appreciated.
