Dorothy E. Smith (nee Peters), 99, of Waukegan, died on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Franciscan Woods in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Dorothy was born November 9, 1907 in Zion and had lived in Waukegan most of her life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Waukegan. She retired in 1971 as Clerk of Jury Commission at the Lake County Courthouse. Survivors include one son, Ryan (Lynn) Smith of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one daughter, Virginia (Richard) Lockman of Waukesha, Wisconisn; three grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Craig of Durham, North Carolina, Gavin Smith of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Craig (Becky) Lockman of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and one great-grandchild Emmie Craig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Smith in 1972; her father and mother, Charles and Bertha Peters; and six brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, ay 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Keith Cerk of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Waukegan, or Alzheimers Association, or American Cancer Society have been suggested.
