Sharon Mirr

1954 — November 23, 2011

Sharon Ann Mirr, Age 57, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at home. Sharon was born July 28, 1954, in Tomahawk, WI. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1972 and the College of Lake County in 1974. Sharon had been employed the past 28 years as a dispatcher for the Zion Police Fire and Rescue Department and prior to that had worked in the same capacity for the City of Lake Forest and the Village of Winthrop Harbor. Sharon was a very loving and most caring person. She was always so willing to give of herself and her time. Her thoughtfulness and consideration towards others was unbelievable. She would work the holidays so those with families could stay home and celebrate, she provided food and clothing for the needy, she had a real passion for animals and donated money for their care and would purchase school supplies for children starting school each year. These are just a few things that made Sharon so unique. She was always doing for others, NEVER expecting or wanting anything for herself! Sharon was loved and adored by all her family and friends. She truly touched so many lives! Survivors include her mother, Marie Mirr of Waukegan, IL; sister, Donna Greenlee of Duncanville, TX; sister-in-law, Trisha Mirr of Morrow, GA; nieces, DeAnna and Danette; nephew, Craig; nieces, Laurie and Brandi; nephew, Joshua; and niece, Sara; and other family, including her precious dog, Jasper. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Mirr Sr.; and brother, Gordon "Pat" Mirr Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion.
