Paul Peter Haroian, 57, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at home, after a five year battle with cancer.
Paul was born July 20, 1950, in Waukegan, Il, to Harry " Hutch" and Olga (nee Krikorian) Haroian. He was a fifth degree black belt master and his passion was teaching Tae Kwon Do to his many students over the years in Lake County. Paul would often forego sleep in order to teach classes between shifts as foreman at ComEd and later, Midwest Generation. He retired from Midwest Generation in 2005. Paul served in the United States Navy in Viet Nam. He was an avid Chicago sports fan and even rooted for both the Cubs and the Sox. Paul was also an animal lover as his friends and family were well aware. He leaves four dogs in Tennessee; Rocky, Coco, Shadow, and Scooby. Paul's vibrant personality and passion for others caused him to leave an impression on everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara (nee Macaluso); children, Jason (Nicole) Haroian and Stephanie (Melvin) Pagan; grandchildren, Christopher, Kaytlin, Alexandria, Addison, and an unborn baby girl. Also surviving are his immediate cousins, Virginia Antonian, Sam Haroian, Pearl Watts; and his cousin sand closest friend, Harry Bedenian; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hutch and Olga Haroian.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007, from 6:00-9:00p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Armenian Apostolic Church, 645 S. Lewis, Waukegan. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago.
