Obituary of Robert Anderson

Robert C. "Bob" "Andy" Anderson, 72, of Beach Park, Illinois, died on Friday, October 12, 2007 at home, surrounded by his family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 4, 1935 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and was raised in Sheldon, Wisconsin. He came to Illinois in 1955 where he worked in construction while he attended Coyne Technical School to study electronics. He was employed at Harmony Haven in Waukegan for many years. In 1975 he opened Bob Anderson's Electronic Service in Waukegan. After closing his store in 1987 he went to work at Lake Forest High School in the Telecommunications Department where he also assisted the drama department as a technical director. He also taped many sporting events, which he loved because he was an avid sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers and all baseball. Survivors include his wife of 38 1/2 years, Sheryl; one daughter Laureen Anderson of Chicago; one son Richard (Kate) Anderson of Waukegan; one grandson, Ethan Anderson; and two brothers Ralph Anderson of Waukegan and William Anderson of Shoreview, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Anderson; one brother Richard Anderson; and his parents Clark and Kathryn (nee McMahon) Anderson. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17th, at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley Church, 3601 N Lewis Avenue, Waukegan, Illinois, Pastor Alma Cordova officiating. He will be laid to rest in Wisconsin, which he continued to consider his home. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
