Obituary of Lawrence Crowell

Lawrence "Larry" Lee Crowell, 82, of Zion, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2007, at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion. Larry had been a resident of Sheridan Health Care Center since 2001. He was born May 16, 1925 in Colbert County, Alabama and grew up in Russellville, Alabama. He joined the United States Army in 1943 during World War II and moved to Zion after he retired from the Army in 1966. He married Lois M. Winrich on November 24, 1956 in Madison, Wisconsin. After retiring from the Army, Larry worked for the City of Zion and at Outboard Marine Corporation until it's closing. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lois M. Crowell; one son David (Susy) Crowell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter DeAnne (John) Stolarik of Zion; daughter-in-law Vickie Crowell of Winthrop Harbor; and grandchildren Christopher (Pam) Crowell of Beach Park, Nicole Crowell and Brett Crowell of Zion and Chad Crowell and Lucas Crowell of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his son Dwayne Crowell on November 14, 2007; his father and mother James and Agnes Crowell; and nine siblings all from Alabama. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 28, 2007, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Fielding of Christian Assembly of God of Zion and Rev. Roy Knull of Sheridan Health Care Center officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Christian Assembly of God, 2929 Bethel Blvd, Zion, have been suggested.
