Betty Lou Berrong passed away at the age of 88 on January 6, 2013.
Betty was born in Zion, IL on March 1, 1924, with the assistance of midwife, Miss Lloyd. Betty professed Christ at an early age. She spent her life loving her Lord and Savior. This was evident in every aspect of her life. She worked as a secretary to Rev. John Clark at the Zion Revival Center for many years. For many years she worked in Good News Clubs, Child Evangelism, helped with AWANA's at North Point Church and later worked part time at Kohl's.
In 1943 Betty married Earl Willis Berrong, who preceded her in death in 2008. They were married for 65 years and together they raised five children on the family farm in Winthrop Harbor. Betty was greatly loved and will be missed by all her family and friends.
She leaves her children Terry (Carol) Berrong, of Winthrop Harbor/Lake Placid, FL, Sandy Pontillo of Winthrop Harbor, Nick Berrong of Winthrop Harbor, Kathy Berrong Robison (Roger) of Strasburg, VA, and Wendy Lee of Simpsonville, SC; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Pocklington of Los Angles, CA., along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her parents Henry and June Hall, her sister Evelyn, brothers Robert Hall and Chauncey (Shirley ) Hall, and one daughter, Nancy Sue who died at birth.
Funeral Services will be held at North Point Church, in Winthrop Harbor, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winthrop Harbor Rescue Squad or North Point Church.
