Obituary of Everett Williams

Everett L. Williams, 92, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois and for the past 27 years of Mesa, Arizona and Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, Illinois. Everett was born June 16, 1915 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and came to Winthrop Harbor in 1954 when he opened several local area Dairy Queens. Later he retired from Johnson Motors in 1980. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, Anchor and Ark A.F. and A.M. Masonic Lodge of Waukegan, Illinois and he enjoyed golf and fly fishing. Survivors include his wife, Margaret F. "Fern" Williams; children, J (Darlene) Williams of Beach Park, Illinois, Thomas (Mary) Williams of Wilmot, Wisconsin, Terry (Hardy) Evans of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Patricia (Daniel) Brown of Weldon, Illinois, Cindy (Stuart) Johnson of Newburyport, Massachusetts and Rhonda Schrader of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Megeon (Russ) Bach, Kelly Williams, Jason Williams, Emilie (Nathan) Carlson, Lesia Norgard, Erin (Jon) Peterson, Stacy Zemanek, Darcy (Scott) Holverson, Richard (Freda) Brown, Curtis (Meredith) Brown, James Johnson and Curtis Johnson; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Marjorie Williams in 1978; one brother, Jack Williams; and his parents, William and Hazel Williams. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where Masonic Services will be held and Cremation to follow. Interment will be Saturday at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either ASP (Appalachian Service Project) of North Prairie United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society, have been suggested.
