Obituary of Peter Muro

Peter Muro, 88, of Zion, IL died on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at his home after a long illness. Peter was born March 14, 1925 in Waukegan. He married Marilyn Webb in February of 1948 in Zion, IL. He received his GED after his military service. Peter was a member of Grace Missionary Church, and the Zion American Legion. He worked for National Press in North Chicago, IL. Peter was proud to have served as a Sargent in the United States Army. He drove a tank in WWII with the Army Corp of Engineers, 6638th Engineer Clearance Company (Armored). He served in Italy, France and Germany. Peter participated in the D-Day invasion and also earned 2 Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and a Good Conduct Medal throughout his service. Peter is survived by his wife Marilyn Webb Muro; children Wendy (Robert) Gieser, Debbie (Randy) Siver, Michael (Nancy) Muro, and Patrick (Deborah) Muro; grandchildren Lisa (Jim) Schwetschenau, Denise Whitt, Patrick Whitt, Randee (Michael) Burch, Jenell Pauly, Raina (Blake) Consdorf, Joshua (Jill) Muro, Jordan (Stacy) Muro, Sarah (RJ) Smith, Peter (Anna) Muro, Hannah Muro, Leah Muro, and Marjie Muro; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one sister Janet Michaels. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Peter and Nancy (nee Trolson) Muro; brother Rudy Muro, and sister June Hall. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th Street, Zion, IL, where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private for the family at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL.
