Obituary of Delmer Holverson

Delmer E. "Del" Holverson, 84, of Zion, IL, passed away on April 25, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Del was born April 3, 1929, in Zion, IL, and was formerly worked for the Teamsters Beverage Union # 301 and #403. He served with the United States Army in the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Del also belonged to the Zion Moose Lodge #667 and was a Millenium Member of the NRA. He was a former Boy Scout Leader of Troop#63 of Zion. Del loved to bowl and garden and enjoyed riding his bicycle and walking. Survivors include his son, Phillip (Cindi) Massari Sr. of Baraboo, WI; daughters, Dawn (Dan) Elrod of Rockford, IL, and Denise Massari-Holbrook of Wisconsin Dells, WI; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Flossie (Chuck) Johnson of IL; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of other family and friends; and special friends, Joe and Nan Rushforth and Rob and Carol Pye. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, in 2004; daughter, Debbie Sanchez; father and mother, Monte and Florence Holverson; and brothers, Vernon and Lee Holverson. Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 5000 W. 9th St., Winthrop Harbor, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
