Obituary of Alice Burns

Alice Louise (nee Ling) Burns, 92, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. Joseph's Home in Kenosha, WI. She was born February 21, 1921 in Chetek, WI where she lived her first 16 years. The family then moved to Union Grove, WI. She was the daughter of Clarence Ling and Velma (nee Worden) Ling. She married Everett "Scotty" Burns on November 13, 1943 in Woodstock, IL. She was a resident of Zion from 1943 to 2000. She worked for 27 years as a custodian for the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge. She was a member of North Prairie United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, camping and fishing. Survivors include her son Bruce (Judy) Burns of River Falls, WI, and three daughters Karen Fowler of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Laurel Burns of Denver, CO, and Janis (Ed) Burnes-Buyarski of Juneau, AK; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister Lois Beix of Burlington, WI; and one brother Clarence (Lorrie) Ling of Sturtevant, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Charles and Harold Ling, and one sister Jessie North. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 5000 9th Street, Zion, IL. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Kwang-Sung Lim officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation would be appreciated.
