Maxie Conley Lorenz

Maxie Mae Conley Lorenz, 84, died December 22, 2013 in McDonough, Georgia. Maxie was born December 30, 1928 in New Boston, Ohio. During WWII when her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Don Lorenz on March 21, 1945. They were happily married for nearly 64 years. The couple made their home in Woodstock, Illinois for several years and attended the Woodstock Free Methodist Church. Maxie was a full-time homemaker and an occasional house parent at the Woodstock Children's Home. She touched the lives of many children. Around 1962 the Lorenzes and their three children moved to Zion, Illinois. Maxie and Don became founding members of Wesley Church Free Methodist in Waukegan. Maxie was a faithful Christian and a loving and caring wife and mother. Maxie is survived by her children, Linda ( Ricky)Hicks, Maureen(John) Borowy and Scott (Shirley) Lorenz; 8 grandchildren, Serie (Tony)Brown, Matthew (Kristi) Borowy, Adam (Marina) Borowy, Christopher (April) Hawks, Jennifer (Christopher) Downs; and Joshua, Jonathan and Jeremy Hicks; 10 great grandchildren, Greg Hawks, Jacob Brown, Antonia Brown, Austin Hawks, Luke Borowy, Madison Hicks, Kayden Hawks, Jayleigh Hicks, Ethan Borowy, and Spencer Hawks ; and 3 sisters, Brenda (Barney) Apel; Juanita Terry; and Wilma (Don) Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; parents Ira and Myrtle Conley; 2 brothers Kenneth Thomas, Ira Conley, Jr; and one sister Dixie Ford. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Wesley Church, 3601 N. Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL, with Pastor Alma Cordova, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Please sign the online guest book at www.congdonfuneralhome.com.
