Obituary of Veora Brown

Veora "Vee" Brown, 86, of Zion, IL went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 surrounded by her family . . .For as sure as we are born we shall die. Mama was born June 13, 1925 in Colfax, LA and accepted Christ at an early age. She married Sebon Brown March 16, 1949. Early in the 1950's they moved to North Chicago. Later she and her family moved to Zion, IL. She leaves him and their seven children Henry (Betty), Sebon Jr. (Mattie), Anita Pickens, Donald (Margie), Dorothy Hunter, Linda (Glenn) Thomas, and Freddie (Crystal); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and others to numerous to mention buy you know you were loved to cherish her memory. She also leaves a special friend, Doris Hamlet, of 44 years. Mama worked outside of the home but her most important job was caregiver of our family. Mama was preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Ellen Jury Turner; two brothers William and Arthur; and three sisters Mary Lanier, Lillie Bush, and Erbie Daley. Her wisdom , humor, daily chats and smile will be missed. Walk around Heaven Mama. Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2012, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Wade A. Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
