Obituary of James Hamm

James H. Hamm, 84, of Beach Park, IL, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO. He was born November 29, 1923, in Belmont, MS, and served as a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff's department for 23 years. James enjoyed his gardening and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Adele Hamm; children, James Bobby (Sandra) Hamm of Zion, IL, Margaret Hamm of Ashland KY, Ricky (Donna) Hamm of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Roxanne (Chris) Cureton of Kirksville, MO, and daughter, Danielle Smith of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Brian Hamm, Don Selsor Jr., Mary Ann Hawkins, Randy Hawkins, Joe Fraley, Erin Hamm, Rachel Hamm, April Cureton, Kristie Cureton, Paul Cureton, and Lindsay Smith; great-grandchildren, Melissa Sweat, Chad Haney, Brittany Moore, Leah Hawkins, Chris Selsor, Cody Hawkins, Sierra Hawkins, Brayden Hamm, and Shaylee Hamm; great-great-grandchildren, Logan and Abby Sweat and Hannah Moore; and many nieces and nephews; along with great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Mattie (nee Breakfield) Hamm; brothers, Johnny "Bud" Hamm and Travis Hamm; sister, Tressie "Sis" Ruple; and grandson, Michael Beam. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, MS.
