Otto V. Tennyson, 85, of Beach Park, IL, went home to be with his Lord on April 15, 2014.
He was born January 29, 1929, in Waukegan, IL, and was a lifelong resident of Waukegan and Beach Park, Illinois, married Norma Hansen in 1950, and worked as a barber and painter. He was an avid sports enthusiast: played basketball in school, softball with the church teams, enjoyed horses, and loved fishing and spending time with family. Otto attended Lakeview Church the past sixteen years. Previously, he was an active member at Waukegan Bible Church, where he served the Lord in numerous capacities, including elder and deacon of the Board, leader of the Boys' Clubs and wherever else needed for most of his adult life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Norma ( nee, Hansen) Tennyson; daughters, Cynthia (Kent) Isaacson, Deborah (Ron) Shaffer; 5 grandchildren: Danielle (Branden) Hedberg and Drew Isaacson, Kris (Colleen) Shaffer, Jonathan Shaffer, and David (Jamie) Shaffer; 6 great-grandchildren: Michael and Brooklynn Hedberg, Ciaran and Finn Shaffer, Teague and Keane Shaffer; sisters and brothers: Dorothy (Ray) Girdley, Louise (Stan) Gamble, Marilyn (Don) Arnold, Neil (Gladys) Tennyson, Joyce Tennyson, John (Carol) Tennyson, Tim (Mary) Tennyson, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Vinis Tennyson; sisters and brothers: Edward (Thora) Tennyson, Rodger Tennyson, Maxine (Ralph) Girdley, Florence (Don) Rector, Barbara Tennyson, Rita (Bob) Hayman, Norma (John) Robison, Wilma Tennyson; and one nephew.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 21st from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Church, 1821 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m with Pastor Les Martin officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lakeview Church or Scripture Memory Mountain Mission, P.O. Box 129, Emmelena, KY, have been suggested.
