Obituary of Betty Carman

Betty Jean Shebesta Carman, 80 of Waukegan, IL passed away on August 9, 2014. She was born on April 29, 1934 in North Chicago, IL to William and Delia Shebesta. Betty married Curtis E. Carman on September 17, 1949. Curtis passed away on February 4, 2009. Betty devoted her life to caring for her family. She held numerous jobs over the years in the Waukegan area. She was the best coupon shopper anyone would ever know and she enjoyed needlework and crafts. She was also well known for her homemade decorated sugar cookies. She is survived by her daughters, Delia Marie White of Gurnee and Betty Jo (Thomas) Dietz of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Steven Arthurs of Chicago, Lisa (Shawn) Herrin of Winthrop Harbor, Aminty (Rodney) Ruiz of Round Lake, Jennifer (Scott) Humphres of Pleasant Prairie, and Thomas (Valerie Gonzales) Dietz of Winthrop Harbor; great-grandchildren, who were the shining stars in her life; Chasity (Bazil Bhatti) White, Kelly and Kaitlyn Herrin, Kyle and Sam Humphres, Ryan and Matthew Ruiz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Ann Robinson, Catherine Riley, Donnie and Doris Millis, Eugene Walker, Hershel and Frances Carman, Hubert and Charlene Carman, Linda Carman, and Jerry and Bonnie Carman; and many nieces and nephews in the Fagan and Shebesta family. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Carman; parents, William and Delia Shebesta; siblings, Delia (Chris) Elfert, James (Max) Fagan, Charles (Pauline) Fagan, Ruth (Joe) Greenfield, Florence (Fritz) Krause, Jeanette (Howard) Stried, Eleanor (Fritz) Dolinar, and Billie Jean (Sam) Lynch; father and mother-in-law, Everette and Katie Carman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Riley, Everette Carman, Madeline (Albert) Carr, Loris Walker, Wendell Carman, Gene and Virginia Rawhoof. Her family would like to thank Dr. McCreary and the staff at Aurora in Zion, Dr. J. Rosenberg, Dr. Y. Mehta, Dr. Kapadia, the staff at Rolling Hills Campus, Charles at Greenpath, and Hospice Alliance of Racine. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m..
