Obituary of Mary Ann Vedder

Mary Ann Vedder, 77, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Hospice Alliance, Racine, WI. Mary Ann was born October 20, 1936, in Waukegan, IL, and retired from Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, after over 35 years of employment as a corporate engineer in charge of packaging. She was a 15 year member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Mary Ann was an avid golfer, (with the Bonnie Brook Golf League); and she loved theater, opera, and gardening. Mary Ann was fond of nature walks and she even formed her own book club. Survivors include nieces, Patricia and Kathy, nephews, Tom, John, Robert, Phil, Jim, Jeff, Dave, and Mike; many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Margaret Vedder; sisters, Joanne Vedder and Pat Nissen; brothers, Daniel and John Vedder; and lifelong friend, Margie. Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, and again from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 2001 80th St., Kenosha, WI. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow immediately after the service. Interment will follow the luncheon at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Mary's Lutheran Church.
